Summer driving destinations in the UK

Driving to your chosen holiday destination does have its benefits, with no limit on the amount of luggage you can take, all you have to do is pack up the car.  There’s also the added benefit of no jet-lag, security check in or a constant fear for those who are scared of flying.  The weather in the UK can be unreliable but there is so much you can do if the rain does decide to descend.

Padstow (Cornwall)

Situated on the Camel estuary, 10 miles from Newquay, Padstow is a picturesque harbour town. Filled with a labyrinth of old crooked streets, sloping down to the working harbour, Padstow offers everything from good restaurants, accommodation, shops, fishing, boat rides across to Polzeath, and is a stones through from some of the most gorgeous beaches in England. Padstow can become extremely busy in peak season, due to its popularity. But even if you don’t stay in Padstow it is definitely worth a day visit, with car parks running along by the harbour.

Scarborough (North Yorkshire)

Scarborough was one of Britain’s first seaside resorts, welcoming visitors for over 360 years and today it is still as popular as ever. It offers safe, sandy beaches, North Bay Beach and South Bay Beach being broken by a rocky headland on which stands Scarborough Castle. The Sea Life Marine Sanctuary, Scarborough Art Gallery and the Rotunda Museum provide indoor activities if the weather suddenly takes a turn for the worst. In addition the North Yorkshire Moors are only a short drive away, which is an added advantage if Scarborough in peak season gets a bit much for you.

Situated between the South Downs and the sea on the stunning south coast, Brighton offers everything from regency period heritage to beautiful beaches. With iconic attractions, such as the famous Brighton Pier and the Royal Pavilion, mixed with regency architecture, award winning restaurants, arts & culture and nightlife, Brighton really does have it all.

Brighton (East Sussex)

Pembrokeshire is one of Wales’ most popular coastal destinations, known especially for its stunning scenery and golden sandy beaches. Pembrokeshire has a host of attractions for the visitor, starting with the many historical sites, such as ancient castles, to theme parks, places of outstanding natural beauty and the deep waters are a good place to see Whales and Dolphins. These are just some of the reasons why so many people visit Pembrokeshire every year and its ever growing popularity.
